Hilltown, Dundee - Ref: WC0327
This photograph shows the junction of Hilltown with Victoria Road, which leads northeastwards to the right.
The two identifiable businesses on Victoria Road are David Robertson, watchmaker and jeweller, and James Fleming, ironmonger. On the Hilltown are James S. Smith and James MacGuckin, wines & spirits merchants, and John Hunter, pastrybaker.
The Free Trade Emporium must have belonged to the tailor Frank Glenday (who lived at No. 3). Stewart Duncan, a butcher, was next door to Alexander Craig, ironplaner, then came Mrs Grant, dairykeeper, James Adam, grocer, then J & J Calvert (drapers).
