Union Street, Dundee - Ref: WC0650
This photograph shows the south-eastern corner of Dundee's Union Street, with the city churches standing to the north at the lefthand side, and what would become Whitehall Crescent to the east and right.
On Whitehall Crescent outside Dixon's warehouse are various models of early bi- and tricycles; Smith, Hood and Co., the coal merchants, are listed at No. 48, which seems, in fact, to have been upstairs; Mrs Robertson, the butcher, is listed at No. 46.
These details match entries in the Dundee Directory for 1890-91, as does David Mackie's public house, The Star and Garter, at No. 42. Further along Whitehall Crescent, it is just possible to make out the building work at the foot of Whitehall Street.
