Transport - Cab stance at City Churches

This photograph by Alexander Wilson shows Dundee's Nethergate running eastwards into the High Street, with Union Street running south to the railway stations at the right.

To the left is a cab stance (what we'd call a taxi rank nowadays), with the City Churches even further left (the eastern part of the East Church can be made out behind the tree).

Prices for journeys (which could not have been very comfortable on the cobbled streets of Dundee city centre) were set in sixpenny increments on a zonal basis, with surcharges for 'waiting for shopping', etc.
