Downfield Free Church, Dundee - Ref: WC1421
Downfield United Presbyterian Mission was opened on 6th September 1885. The present Church was opened for worship on Thursday, 26th September 1889.The architects were C & L Ower Dundee and cost £1,400.
Downfield United Presbyterian became Downfield United Free in 1900 and Downfield South in 1929.
Alexander Wilson, who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
