Most shopkeepers will be decorating their premises and will close for the duration of the visit. Thje photograph shows groups of people standing around and also a donkey cart. On one corner of Murraygate/Commercial Street there is G LWilson (Drapers) and on opposite corner James Anderson & Co (Drapers)
There was a heated discussion at a Council Meeting on 15 August re members of a sub-committee consisting of outsidersWho had awarded the contract for flags, bunting etc. Only council members should authorise money from Common Good/Council Funds.
