Engineering Services (Consultancy)
The City Engineer's division provides a range of civil, structural and environmental engineering services to the council and its various departments. The division seeks to provide a high quality, flexible and responsive service to ensure that projects are delivered safely on time, within budget and to meet the quality and operational requirements of the client department.
In order to assist in delivering this service, the division operates a Quality Management System that meets the requirements of ISO 9001; 2000. A fundamental element of this system is the constant goal of continuous improvement and all staff are encouraged to suggest changes to the division's operating procedures and practices.
In order to achieve Best Value in the procurement of engineering contracts the division supports the use of alternative forms of procurement including partnering agreements and the use of Quality Price tendering processes.
The division recognises the potential impact on the environment of the projects that it promotes. It wholly endorses the ethos of sustainable construction and seeks to ensure that all projects fully consider their impact on the environment and sustainability. To this end the division is introducing an environmental management system and is seeking accreditation to IS0 14OO1.
