Euclid Street/Euclid Crescent

closed westbound for 9 months with full closures for short durations (up to 48 hours) for major refurbishment works to D C Thomson building.

South Victoria Dock Road (west of West Victoria Dock Road)

closed for 3 weeks for drainage and associated Central Waterfront works.

West Hendersons Wynd (north side of Verdant Works entrance for 26m northwards) and Miln Street (West Hendersons Wynd for 12m eastwards)

closed for 2 weeks for building operations.

Thomson Street (Magdalen Yard Road for 100m north)

closed for 7 weeks for demolition and building works.

Dalrymple Street (Deveron Terrace to Elmwood Drive)

closed for 3 weeks for service connections to new housing.

Happyhillock Road/Douglas Road/Drumgeith Road/Summerfield Avenue/Baldovie Road/B978 Kellas Road

off-peak rolling temporary traffic lights for up to one week for BT cabling and blockage work.

Arbroath Road (at Robertson Street)

traffic control for 2 days for lining and specialist surfacing works.

Riverside Drive (Tesco roundabout for 200m eastwards)

off-side lane closures in both directions from Monday 20 April for 6 weeks for drainage works.

Patons Lane (McGonagall Square to Tayfield Place)

closed from Monday 20 April for 5 days for gas service connection works.  One way order rescinded for the duration of the closure.

Lochee Road (Tullideph Road to Dudhope Terrace)

closed southbound in 2 phases (Phase 1 – Tullideph Road, Rankine Street, Cleghorn Street and Dudhope Terrace northbound all closed at their junction with Lochee Road.  Phase 2 – Tullideph Road closed at junction with Lochee Road) from Monday 20 April for 3 weeks for carriageway resurfacing works.

Hebrides Drive (Foula Terrace to Hebrides Drive)

closed from Monday 20 April for 3 weeks for water and drainage connection works.

Riverside Drive at Central Waterfront

closed overnight (11.00pm – 6.00am) on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 April for construction works.  Only east and westbound traffic affected.

Market Street

closed from 8.00pm on Friday 24 April to 5.00pm on Sunday 26 April for Dundee Museum of Transport event.


A92 Greendykes Road (approach to Broughty Ferry Road junction)

overnight (7.30pm - 6.30am) southbound nearside lane closure on Friday 24 April for patching and gully repairs.

Forthill Road at Cedar Road

off-peak temporary traffic lights on Friday 24 April for manhole repairs.

Strathmartine Road at Paterson Street

temporary traffic lights for one week for pedestrian crossing refurbishment.

Blackness Road at Marchfield Road

temporary traffic lights from Wednesday 22 to Friday 24 April for BT duct installation.

Forthcoming Major Roadworks

West Queen Street (Bayfield Road to Claypotts Road)

closed in 2 phases  (Phase 1 at junction with Claypotts Road/Phase 2 from Bayfield Road to Claypotts Road) from Saturday 9 May for 7 days for carriageway resurfacing.

Balgowan Avenue (Derwent Avenue to Duncan Place)

closed westbound from Monday 18 May for 8 days for carriageway resurfacing works.


Roads - General

Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of maintenance work including resurfacing and reconstruction as well as water, sewer, electricity, gas and telecom supply/renewal/maintenance works, etc.

It may be that the Dundee City Council is not responsible for these works.  However we have a duty to inform the public of any major situation which may arise – planned or otherwise – that may affect their ability to move about the city.  We have included here a listing of road closures and major lane closures or restrictions and the contact numbers for the main utility companies in case you have a query on any specific set of roadworks.
