Asbestos

Tayside Scientific Services is accredited by UKAS for the identification of asbestos in bulk materials and other products suspected of containing asbestos.
The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations requires that Councils' non-domestic properties are surveyed for presence or absence of asbestos. This ensures that during routine maintenance work, refurbishment or demolition of properties, Council staff and contractors are not unnecessarily or unexpectedly exposed to asbestos.
Tayside Scientific Services routinely analyses samples from all council properties, both domestic and non-domestic, as well as samples submitted by private asbestos contractors.
The laboratory is accredited for identification of
- Amosite
- Chrysotile
- Crocidolite
- Fibrous Actinolite
- Fibrous Anthophyllite
- Fibrous Tremolite
