Social Work Access Team

Contact Details:-
Social Work Department, 11 Castle Street, Dundee DD1 3AA
Tel: 01382 434350
Fax: 01382 200321

Opening Hours:-
Monday to Friday, 8.45 am to 5.00 pm

The Access Team provides a single point of entry for all new referrals and requests for social work services for people under 16. Following initial assessment, an enquiry may be dealt with within one or two appointments. If it becomes apparent that help is required over a period of time then a specific member of staff may be allocated to work with you. Where longer-term work is needed a referral is passed to the appropriate section / team within the social work department and ongoing support is provided on an interim basis.

The team is staffed by social workers experienced in working with Children, Families and Adult Care. Close links are maintained with key agencies in the city e.g. Department for Work & Pensions, Hydro Electric and Housing. This team also has links with many voluntary agencies and organisations like Children 1st, Women's Aid and The Society for the Visually Impaired. This is one of the reasons the Access Team is located in the city centre.

Anyone under 16 can approach this Team for advice. If you don't already have a member of social work staff working with you, you can make an appointment to come into this office. Where appropriate a home visit can be arranged.

Remember you can bring a friend, relative or someone to speak for you along to any appointment arranged for you.
