

Dundee City Council Leisure and Communities Department’s Sports Development Section, has teamed together with SportDunee formerly (Dundee City Sports Council) to present the 9th SportDundee Awards.
This award ceremony is held to formally recognise and reward the success, commitment and dedication of athletes, clubs, coaches, teams, officials and volunteers within Dundee .
The 2009 SportDundee Awards will be held on Wednesday 25th November 2009 at the Invercarse Hotel. The purpose of the Awards evening is to celebrate and honour the achievements and efforts of volunteers, coaches, officials, teams and individual athletes involved in local sport.

Nominations for each of the awards are invited from individuals or organisations that know a person, team or club whom they feel deserves recognition for their achievements during 2009. Three finalist nominations from each category will be pre-selected and invited to attend the Awards Ceremony, where the winners will be announced.

University of Abertay Dundee
Team of the Year
Presented to a local Dundee team who have achieved success at the highest level within their sport whether at a local, national or international level.
Redwood Leisure Ltd. Sports Person of the Year Awarded to an individual who has achieved outstanding results during the past 12 months in their chosen sport.
Lifetime Commitment Award
Presented to a dedicated individual who has given a lifetime’s commitment to sport. This could include time as an athlete, volunteer, administrator or official. Consideration will be given to special circumstances or hurdles that have been overcome in order to maintain the commitment to their sport and this should be detailed as part of the nomination. The nomination should reflect the hard work and dedication the nominee has given and the impact this has had on sport and those involved.
Coach of the Year
Presented to a coach who has throughout the past 12 months, demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment to his or her sport. It should be demonstrated within the nomination the level of the nominee’s commitment to coaching athletes or teams within Dundee including time commitment.
Cash for Kids Young Sports Person of the Year
Presented to a talented young person under 18 years of age who has excelled in his or her chosen sport over the past 12 months.
Jenny Wood Allen Award Presented to an individual with a physical, sensory and or Learning disability in recognition of their commitment and achievements over the past 12 months.
Volunteer of the Year
Presented to an individual who has shown an outstanding commitment as a volunteer to their chosen sport throughout the past 12 months.
Dundee City Sports Council Young Team of the Year
Awarded to a young team that has been successful in local, national or international competitions throughout the last 12 months.
Community Coach of the Year
This award is about a local contribution to sport and will be presented to the coach who has demonstrated commitment and dedication to coaching within a community group, school or with a group of athletes throughout the last 12 months.
Official of the Year
Presented to an individual who has given their time throughout the past 12 months to officiate within their chosen sport, whether at recreational, school, district or national events. This nominee will be either starting out on the qualification pathway or a fully qualified official.Evening Telegraph Club of the Year
Awarded to a club that has achieved collectively or through individual achievements of their members and should demonstrate how the club has developed over the past 12 months.Young Volunteer of the Year
Awarded to an individual who has shown an outstanding commitment as a volunteer to their chosen sport over the past 12 months.
