DUNDEE CELEBRATIONS
SUNDAY 30th NOVEMBER 2008
St Andrew's Day is a day to celebrate Scotland both at home and abroad, and events will take place in all six Scottish cities and around the world.
The centrepiece of Dundee's celebrations will be Radio Tay infront of the gazebo in the City Centre, with music, highland dancers and a live broadcast of the Bill Torrance Show.
Take your chance to sample traditional Scottish fayre, win prizes for knowing all about Scotland or enter your child in the Highlander Tot competition.
Scotland's music and dance will also be celebrated at the Wellgate and Forum Centres, while at the Overgate you can get your free souvenir picture taken ‘on top of Ben Nevis’ or download your photo to send to friends. The Steeple Church will join the celebrations with a lunchtime concert.
An event at Sensation Science Centre will highlight the achievements of Scottish Scientists with exhibitions and a treasure trail, and there will be free entry to Camperdown Wildlife Centre for a Medieval Day with falconry, animals, face painting, stocks, competitions and performers.
On Friday 28th November, music, dancing and food will also feature in the celebrations for young people at The Shore, and at Dundee International Women's Centre, where women originally from countries all around the world will celebrate the One Scotland, Many Cultures message.
Events will also be taken out into the community, with special services in churches and entertainment in senior citizens residences.
