Dundee City Council has successfully offered commercial premises of Dundee a glass only collection for a number of years. This has proved extremely popular with over 300 trade premises signing up to the service.

Commercial premises are provided with wheelie bins ranging from 660 litres to 1100 litres in size, and are requested to segregate their waste glass into 3 different colours (clear, green and brown) - it is key that glass is properly colour segregated and free from contaminants.

A specially designed three-compartment collection vehicle collects wheelie bins from commercial premises on a pre-defined basis. Collected glass is returned to Marchbanks Depot where it is stored in purpose built containers before being delivered to an approved contractor for recycling.
