Kerbside Recycling Box Scheme
Information/Service?
Following the successful trial of the household kerbside recycling scheme, which was initially piloted by around 6,500 households across Dundee, it has been expanded with approximately 15,500 households now being offered the 55 litre green box. This enables households to easily separate and recycle their household wastes.
The following table gives examples of what you can and can not put in your green box at collection time.
| Yes please | No thanks |
| Aluminium cans | Foil and foil food containers |
| Glass bottles and jars (all colours) | Broken glass, window glass, drinking glasses |
| Plastic e.g. milk containers and tops, shampoo and cleaning bottles, margarine tubs, yoghurt pots, shopping bags, flower pots | Black plastic bags, Polystyrene, PVC e.g. tubes, gutters |
PLEASE WASH AND SQUASH ALL CANS PLASTIC BOTTLES & FOOD CONTAINERS
Householders are then being asked to put the green boxes out on the kerbside for collection on the relevant day. The collection crew sorts the contents of the box into separate compartments in the collection vehicle with the contents being taken to Marchbanks before being recycled.
The responses of those involved remain positive and it is hoped that in the future the scheme will eventually be rolled out across the city on a phase by phase basis. If you have queries regarding the scheme please call 01382 432777.
