Chief Executive (Salary circa £150,000)

Dundee is a city that's going places.

The UK's first UNESCO City of Design, it was named the coolest little city in Britain by GQ magazine and described as one of seven cities to watch by CNN.

The £1 billion project to transform Dundee into a world-leading waterfront destination, including the Kengo Kuma-designed V&A Dundee, is attracting international attention.

Dundee is a dynamic and modern city, offering a unique quality of life. Arts, culture and education have been central to recent developments, while the city is also a national leader in the fields of biotechnology and digital media.

Further opportunities lie ahead, such as the £300million Tay Cities Deal and its aspirations for a smarter, fairer region. The recently-created Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc and a proposed Eden Project site are further examples of Dundee’s bold and creative ambition.

These are exciting developments for the city, but there is still much to be done to maximise the social and economic benefits of Dundee’s transformation.

Can you help lead Dundee and the council on the next steps of their journey? Can you harness all the opportunities that exist to create a fairer and more prosperous city for everyone?

The opportunity

As Chief Executive, you will take forward Dundee’s impressive track record of regeneration and change.

Working closely with Partners and further strengthening relationships with a range of organisations both locally and nationally, you’ll also be at the forefront of tackling the key challenges for the city, including job creation, educational attainment and achieving social fairness.

And of course you will be at the heart of the recovery and renewal of Dundee following the Coronavirus pandemic.

You will provide the strategic leadership necessary to ensure the Council delivers on its priorities, provides efficient and effective delivery of services and ensures that the Council listens to the citizens of Dundee.
