Dundee is a city that's going places.

The UK's first UNESCO City of Design, it was named the coolest little city in Britain by GQ magazine and described as one of seven cities to watch by CNN.

The £1 billion project to transform Dundee into a world-leading waterfront destination, including the Kengo Kuma-designed V&A Dundee, is attracting international attention.

Dundee is a dynamic and modern city, offering a unique quality of life. Arts, culture and education have been central to recent developments, while the city is also a national leader in the fields of biotechnology and digital media.

Further opportunities lie ahead, such as the £300million Tay Cities Deal and its aspirations for a smarter, fairer region. The recently created Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc and a proposed Eden Project site are further examples of Dundee’s bold and creative ambition.

Can you be part of the journey, helping maximise the opportunities to deliver on the city and the Council’s priorities and create a fairer and more prosperous Dundee?

Can you drive organisational change to improve performance and services while navigating current and future challenges?

The opportunity

Our current Executive Director of Corporate Services has just been appointed as our new Chief Executive. You will join the organisation and immediately be a key member of the Council Management Team taking forward Dundee’s impressive track record of regeneration and change.

You will have direct responsibility for Corporate Finance, Customer Service and IT, Democratic and Legal Services and Human Resources and Business Support.

You’ll oversee the preparation of revenue budgets and capital plans and ensure effective corporate resource management arrangements are in place, including statutory functions.

Your ability to form close and productive working relationships within and out with the Council is key, as is the ability to further strength relationships with a range of organisations both locally and nationally, you’ll also be at the forefront of tackling the key challenges for the city.

And of course, you will be at the heart of the recovery and renewal of Dundee and its local authority services following the Coronavirus pandemic.
