A GROUP of IT industry leaders has rated Dundee City Council's website among the top in Scotland.

The Society of IT Managers (SOCITM) gave the site a three star rating, one of only seven handed to local authorities in Scotland, and the top rank in the country.

Leader of Dundee City Council, Ken Guild said: "We are pleased that the service our website offers to council tax payers in the city has been recognised in this way.

"Our aim has always been to create a comprehensive, high quality, 24/7 user friendly wesbite and recognition from SOCITM that we are achieving that is welcome.

"But we are not content to rest on our laurels as in the fast-moving world of IT there is always another innovation or technological advance around the corner that we should make sure we embrace."

No Scottish local authority was awarded the coveted top rating of four stars.
