Environmental Improvements Programme

MORE than £400,000 of planned improvements to open spaces across Dundee could get underway in the new few weeks.

Councillors will be asked to approve a package which includes redesign and landscape improvements to Lochee Road, Riverside Drive, South Park Road, as well as replacing damaged fencing at Millhill Gardens and Pentland Avenue.

Redesign and landscape improvement works include:

  • Marketgait – Soft landscaped areas would be improved by new trees, benches, bins, and replacement fencing
  • Lochee Road – Additional trees and wildflowers would be planted
  • Riverside Drive – The main route into the city would be enhanced by new plants and trees which will line the ambassador route
  • Dura Street/ Dens Road – sight lines would be improved by removing overgrown shrubbery and the site will be upgraded by additional suburbs and bulbs being planted

Councillor Anne Rendall Depute Convener of Dundee City Council’s neighbourhood services committee said: “This ongoing programme of improvements and upgrades keeps the city looking attractive and enriches our local environment making sure that everyone can enjoy it.”

“We want this to make a positive contribution to the cityscape that can be appreciated by visitors and locals alike.”

These works follow the approval of more than £250,000 worth of improvements at play areas and open spaces across the city in January.

The neighbourhood services committee will consider the improvements worth £437,596 at its meeting on Monday (June 12).
