Dundee's Award Winning External Wall Insulation

Dundee

It’s been a year of triumph for Dundee’s External Wall Insulation Programme.

At the recent Energy Efficiency Awards, held in Birmingham, Dundee City Council won the Council of the Year Award and second place for the Insulation and Fabric Project.

In addition, the council won the Regional Vulnerable Customer Support Campaigner of the Year at the 2018 Scotland Regional Energy Efficiency Awards.

Neighbourhood Services Convener Councillor Kevin Cordell said: β€œIn Dundee we are committed to combating fuel poverty.

β€œWe are continuing to deliver a high standard of external wall insulation around the city and these awards are the proof of that.

β€œFor the last 5 years, a number of locations throughout the city have benefited from the installation of external wall insulation.

β€œThis work has helped approximately 5,500 households. The team behind this work together with their partners and have been recognised both regionally and nationally.”

The council was runner up in both the Regional Large Scale Project of the Year and the Regional and Local Authority Body of the Year Award at the 2018 Scotland Regional Energy Efficiency Awards.

Councillor Cordell continued: β€œThese awards recognise the efforts of all those involved locally in delivering a successful large scale energy saving project.”

The council have worked with SSE Energy Solutions over the past 5 years who have helped transform the city via their Managed Solution and funding support through the Energy Company Obligation.

SSE Energy Solutions have been integral to the success of these accolades through their project administration, contractor procurement, project management and setting the standards when it comes to Health & Safety best practices and governance controls.

Alsecco have also been involved with the programme and bring expertise and a quality service which allows External Wall Insulation to be underwritten for 25 years.

Insulated Render Services (IRS) have completed 132 units at the Barnes Avenue location and are a contractor who have delivered good results on behalf of all stakeholders at other locations throughout the City.
