Street Lighting - Inspection and Repair content
The operation of the street lighting City Wide is inspected throughout the year on a cyclic basis once a week with a different area of the city being inspected under the cover of darkness each week night.
Since June 2000 the night inspection system now includes for carrying out simple repairs (lamp changes). More complex faults or those involving street lights on paths are left for daytime repair to avoid excessive noise and disturbance to sleeping residents.
Dundee City Council are one of only a few authorities in Scotland to operate a spot and repair policy to minimise the time period that street lights are dark.
The street lighting section deals with approx 5000 faults annually.
