Members' Training and Development 2016/17

During the course of 2016/2017, briefings and seminars were arranged for members on the following topics:

Members continued to have access to a wide range of online learning resources developed by the Improvement Service for Local Government, such as notebooks, exercises, elearning modules and publications on topics such as promoting change and improvement, working collaboratively, political understanding, decision making, leadership and effective communication.

Written briefings are also provided for members by the Improvement Service on current policy issues, with recent topics including:

  • The Planning System
  • Self-Directed Support
  • Gypsy Travellers
  • Care Inspectorate
  • Financial Capability
  • Joint Working Between Public Bodies

In addition, members have access to the Scottish Local Government Information Unit's daily bulletin of articles relevant to local authorities in Scotland.
