Food waste collections are to resume in Dundee (update Mon 14 Sept)
The community centres at Menzieshill, Charleston, Ardler, Kirkton, Hilltown, Finmill and Douglas will re-open on Mon Sept 14. They have all been prepared for a safe reopening in line with the Scottish Government’s route map out of lockdown and the Council’s recovery plans (update 11 September)

Public conveniences across the city will reopen on Friday 31st July from 10.00am - 4.00pm (update 30 July).
In relation to cemeteries, Government guidance advises funerals to take place with no more than 20 people at a time. This cap is to allow for physical distancing measures to be followed at all times (update 15 July)
Dundee schools will reopen to pupils on a phased basis from Wednesday August 12, with full-time lessons beginning from Monday August 17, if it safe to do so (update 6 July).
Dundee’s fireworks displays will not be going ahead in November, it has been confirmed, as the city continues to take measures against coronavirus (update 3 July).
Parking charges are to be gradually re-introduced in Dundee, with concessionary prices until September (update 3 July).

As from 29 June 2020 birth registrations will take place in our registrars office by appointment only. We have a list of parents who have contacted us and we will be in touch with an appointment to register the birth of your child. Find out all the details (updated Wed 24 June).
From Monday 22nd June, Baldovie and Riverside Household Waste Recycling Centres will re-open to the public. (Updated Fri 19 June).
The phased return of the Grounds Maintenance Scheme will come into place from Monday 1st June. Phase 1 will include: Garden maintenance, grass cutting and hedge trimming; Sheltered housing grass cutting; Cemetery grass cutting; Maintenance of grass areas to maintain safe sight lines at road junctions and carriageways; Street weed management; Litter and bin management. Phase 2 (to get under way following the completion of phase 1) will include: Housing grass areas; Parks and open areas maintenance; Wider grounds maintenance. (Updated Mon 25th May).
Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) will re-open to the public on a restricted basis from Monday 1st June, subject to national guidance from the Scottish Government. The recycling centres will run Monday to Sunday, 9am to 4pm.
Residents are asked to use the facilities for essential purposes only which include general waste, garden waste, wood, metals, rubble, fridges & freezers, and gas cylinders & bottles. Additional information on the restricted service is available. (Mon 25 May).
The Council’s special collections bulky uplift service will resume on Monday 1st June, with booking arrangements being available to the public from Wednesday 27th May. (Updated Mon 25th May).
Free parking has been introduced at all of Dundee City Council’s multi-storey & Shore Terrace surface car park to help key workers. Update (Thurs 23 April) - this will remain in place until the end of the formal lockdown period.
The council has agreed to suspend new recovery activity for unpaid debts across all council accounts. No enforcement action will be taken regarding domestic and non-domestic tenancies due to unpaid rent payments during this period of disruption.
Cash Office, Customer Service and Benefit Delivery Services are available online, over the telephone or by email only. No face to face delivery of services available (on 30 March)
Community Support Centres are being established. These centres will provide a range of coordinated support to assist people during the crisis, starting on Monday (30 March) with the provision of childcare for key workers and vulnerable children (Fri 27 March).
In relation to cemeteries, Government guidance currently allows funerals to take place with immediate family only present. This means graveside services at any of our cemeteries can only be attended by immediate family. At this time, immediate family are defined by our industry bodies as:
- Partner/Spouse of the deceased
- Children (and their partners) of the deceased
- Parents (or Carers) of the deceased
- Brothers and sisters of the deceased

Food waste collections ceased to allow prioritisation of general waste collections. Householders are asked to combine food waste with their general waste rather than presenting their kitchen caddie (Fri 20 March)
The special collection bulky waste service has been temporarily suspended to allow other essential services to be prioritised. We would ask residents to please hang on to any bulky waste until this service is up and running again. Please do not be tempted to fly tip and refrain from burning any waste (Wed 18 March)
