The phased return of the Grounds Maintenance Scheme will come into place from Monday 1st June. Phase 1 will include:Β Garden maintenance, grass cutting and hedge trimming; Sheltered housing grass cutting; Cemetery grass cutting; Maintenance of grass areas to maintain safe sight lines at road junctions and carriageways; Street weed management; Litter and bin management. Phase 2 (to get under way following the completion of phase 1) will include: Housing grass areas; Parks and open areas maintenance; Wider grounds maintenance. (Mon 25th May).

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) will re-open to the public on aΒ restricted basisΒ from Monday 1stΒ June, subject to national guidance from the Scottish Government.Β The recycling centres will run Monday to Sunday, 9am to 4pm.

Residents are asked to use the facilities for essential purposes only which include general waste, garden waste, wood, metals, rubble, fridges & freezers, and gas cylinders & bottles.Β Additional informationΒ on the restricted service is available. (Mon 25 May).

The Council’sΒ special collections bulky uplift serviceΒ will resume on Monday 1st June,Β with booking arrangements being available to the public from Wednesday 27th May. (Mon 25th May).

Free parkingΒ has been introduced at all of Dundee City Council’s multi-storey & Shore Terrace surface car park to help key workers. Update (Thurs 23 April) - this will remain in place until the end of the formal lockdown period.

The council has agreed to suspend new recovery activity for unpaid debts across all council accounts, initially until 20th April 2020. No enforcement action will be taken regarding domestic and non-domestic tenancies due to unpaid rent payments during this period of disruption. Update (Tues 21 April) - there will be no recovery action for a further 3 weeks from this date.

Cash Office,Β Customer Service and Benefit Delivery Services are available online, over the telephone or by email only. No face to face delivery of services available (on 30 March)

Community Support Centres are being established. These centres will provide a range of coordinated support to assist people during the crisis, starting on Monday (30 March) with the provision of childcare for key workers and vulnerable children (Fri 27 March).

In relation to cemeteries, Government guidance currently allows funerals to take place with immediate family only present. This means graveside services at any of our cemeteries can only be attended by immediate family. At this time, immediate family are defined by our industry bodies as:

  • Partner/Spouse of the deceased
  • Children (and their partners) of the deceased
  • Parents (or Carers) of the deceased
  • Brothers and sisters of the deceased

Household Waste Recycling Centres at Baldovie and Riverside are now closed. Residents are asked toΒ hang on to any bulky waste until the sites reopen and not be tempted to fly tip or burn waste (Tues 24 March)

All play areas and communal equipment, including outdoor gym areas are closed. Parks themselves and green spaces will be open for exercise and should be used in line with Government advice on physical distancing to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus (Tues 24 March)

There areΒ no face to face enquiries/cashier facilities at:Β  East District Housing Office, West District Housing Office & Dundee House. Dundee House still has a cashier service available (Mon 23 March).

All Dundee schools and nurseries close for normal business at the end of the school day (Fri 20 March)

The communal areas in Sheltered Housing complexes are now closed.Β Sheltered housing residents will continue to be supported via the intercom system and telephone (Fri 20 March)

Food waste collections ceased to allow prioritisation of general waste collections. Householders are asked to combine food waste with their general waste rather than presenting their kitchen caddieΒ (Fri 20 March)

The special collection bulky waste service has been temporarily suspended to allow other essential services to be prioritised. We would ask residents to please hang on to any bulky waste until this service is up and running again. Please do not be tempted to fly tip and refrain from burning any waste (Wed 18 March)
