Urban Design

The urban realm is the setting for civic life. It comprises our streets, parks, monuments and buidings, as well as the events which take place in them. Civic life is enriched by developments which welcome a broad range of people and is impoverished by those which exclude or discourage all but a narrow range of users.

Dundee City Council is investing in the production of an Urban Design Guide (3.70MB PDF), which will act as an informed catalyst for everyone involved in the development process and present an agenda of principles that must, at the outset of a development project, be considered, to ensure that we continually improve the quality of people's lives through the creation and subsequent maintenance of an attractive, liveable and sustainable environment.
