New House Letting Policy

We now have a new Letting Policy based on the following principles:
- Letting houses to those with the greatest need
- Fairness and accountability, equality, openness and transparency
- Confidentiality and consistency of decision making
The main changes are:
- Applicants will be divided into four groups - homeless, general needs, redevelopment and choice. Lets will be shared among each of the groups
- Points will be awarded according to the applicants’ needs. Where more than one need is identified (for example the applicant is overcrowded and has a medical priority) points can be added together to give an overall total
- Waiting time points will no longer exist but, applicants’ length of time on the waiting list will be taken into account
- All applicants will be entitled to three offers of suitable housing. We will look at any offers of housing that have already been made when the new system is introduced
- The size of accommodation we offer you will depend on the size and needs of your household
