The minute of meeting of this Committee of 20th June 2005 was held as read.

I TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No 505-2005 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing tenders received and requesting a decision thereon:-

 

(i) ST VINCENTS RC PRIMARY SCHOOL - BOILER HOUSE REPLACEMENT

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer from Jaydee Heating and Electrical, Dundee for boiler house replacement at St Vincents RC Primary School for 177,925.40, together with allowances of 7,500 for water supply, 7,500 for gas supply, 1,410 for planning supervisor and 26,688 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 221,023.40.

 

The Committee noted that Jaydee Heating and Electrical, Dundee had listed the undernoted sub-contractors:-

(ii)SS PETER AND PAUL RC PRIMARY SCHOOL - ANNEXE RE-OCCUPATION WORKS

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services for annexe re-occupation works at SS Peter and Paul RC Primary School for 44,000, together with allowances of 2,000 for planning supervisor and 7,000 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 53,000.

 

(iii)BLACKNESS PRIMARY SCHOOL/LONGHAUGH PRIMARY SCHOOL - MINOR WORKS

 

The Committee agreed that the work be carried out under the Property Maintenance and Small Works Partnership with Dundee Contract Services for minor alterations to heating pipework and controls at Blackness and Longhaugh Primary Schools for 2,100, together with an allowance of 315 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 2,415.

 

(iv) LAW NURSERY - BIN ENCLOSURE

 

The Committee agreed that the work be carried out under the Property Maintenance and Small Works Partnership with Dundee Contract Services for a bin enclosure at Law Nursery for 3,500, together with an allowance of 525 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 4,025.

 

(v) CRAIGIE HIGH SCHOOL - VARIOUS WORKS

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer from Jaydee Heating and Electrical, Dundee for replacement wiring in the pool plant room at Craigie High School for 970, together with an allowance of 146 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 1,116.

 

(vi) PARK PLACE PRIMARY SCHOOL - REPLACEMENT OF URINALS

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer from McGill Electrical Limited, Dundee for replacement of urinals at Park Place Primary School for 3,039, together with an allowance of 457 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 3,496.

 

The Committee noted that McGill Electrical Limited, Dundee had listed the undernoted sub-contractor:-

(vii) DENS ROAD/LONGHAUGH PRIMARY SCHOOLS - REPLACEMENT OF URINALS

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer from McGill Electrical Limited, Dundee for replacement of urinals at Dens Road Primary School for 5,378, together with allowances of 8,500 for replacement of urinals at Longhaugh Primary School and 806 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 14,684.

 

The Committee noted that McGill Electrical Limited, Dundee had listed the undernoted sub-contractor:-

(viii) LOCHEE PRIMARY SCHOOL - REPLACEMENT OF URINALS

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer from McGill Electrical Limited, Dundee for replacement of urinals at Lochee Primary School for 4,614, together with an allowance of 692 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 5,306.

 

The Committee noted that McGill Electrical Limited, Dundee had listed the undernoted sub-contractor:-

(ix) CLEPINGTON PRIMARY SCHOOL - REPLACEMENT DISTRIBUTION BOARDS

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer from McGill Electrical Limited, Dundee for replacement distribution boards at Clepington Primary School for 14,443.91, together with an allowance of 2,167 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 16,610.91.

 

II SUPPLY OF OFFICE SUPPLIES

 

There was submitted Report No 515-2005 by the Director of Education seeking approval to accept a tender for the supply of office supplies to schools and other sites in Dundee City and Perth and Kinross Council.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i)agreed to award the contract for the supply of office supplies for the period 1st October 2005 to 30th September 2007 to Corrie Service Limited, Unit 1, Keiller Buildings, Mains Loan, Dundee, DD4 7BT; and

 

(ii)noted that Dundee City Council had joined the abc Purchasing Consortia and catalogues including a number of services would be provided at a later date and may be used in conjunction with the office supplies contract schedule and that further information would be made available to Head Teachers in due course; and

 

III FACADE REPAIRS TO MENZIESHILL HIGH SCHOOL PHASE I

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN336-2005.

 

Reference was made to Article IV of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 20th June 2005 wherein, to enable works to be carried out during the holiday period, the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) was given authority to award the contract to the most favourable tenderer up to a maximum value of 30,000.

 

The City Engineer invited six contractors to tender and the following five offers were received:-

The Committee noted that the City Engineer had recommended Castle Contracting Limited be appointed to undertake the contract and a letter of acceptance was issued by the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services).

 

IV COTTON ROAD NURSERY SCHOOL, COTTON ROAD - SURPLUS PROPERTY

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN337-2005.

 

Reference was made to Article IX of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 21st February 2005 wherein the Committee approved the closure of Cotton Road Nursery School.

 

As the property was surplus to Education requirements the Committee agreed that it be remitted to the Director of Economic Development for consideration of future use or disposal.
