I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

II LEADERSHIP OF PUBLIC PROTECTION ARRANGEMENTS

 

There was submitted Report No 130-2021 by the Chief Executive updating the Committee regarding arrangements for leadership of the Strategic Public Protection Agenda by the Chief Officers (Public Protection) Strategic Group, including key developments over the last six months and future strategic ambitions.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i) noted the role of the Chief Officers (Public Protection) Strategic Group in providing leadership for the protection of children and adults at risk as detailed in paragraph 4.2 of the report;

 

(ii) noted the work undertaken by the Chief Officers (Public Protection) Strategic Group over the previous six months to enhance arrangements for public protection, including the response to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic as detailed in paragraphs 4.3 and 4.5 of the report;

 

(iii) noted the priorities for the Chief Officers (Public Protection) Strategic Group for the next six months as detailed in paragraph 4.6 of the report; and

 

(iv) directed the Chief Executive to provide further updates regarding the work of the Chief Officers (Public Protection) Strategic Group and key developments in public protection to Committee on a six-monthly basis.

 

III CONTAMINATED LAND STRATEGY - SITE INVESTIGATION CONTRACTS

 

There was submitted Report No 121-2021 by the Executive Director of Neighbourhood Services seeking approval for the proposed on-going site investigation work associated with the Councils statutory contaminated land responsibilities and also updating Committee on the projects undertaken in 2020/2021.

 

The Committee agreed to note the contents of the report in respect of the site investigations undertaken during 2020/2021, and authorised the Head of Design and Property to instruct the required site investigation and remedial works up to the value of 70,000 in financial year 2021/2022, as outlined in paragraph 4.3 of the report.
