Bash Street

A DUNDEE street could be given the comic treatment if councillors back the move.

Following a request from city-based publisher of the Beano DC Thomson, the city development committee will be asked to adopt “Bash Street” as the name for a road in the West End, adjacent to West Marketgait.

Will Dawson, convener of the city development committee said: “While it is a bit of fun, it is important for us to be able to acknowledge the history of the city and some of DC Thomson’s best loved characters.

''We've already got statues of Desperate Dan and Minnie the Minx in the centre and it's good to tie in the Bash Street kids, particularly because a proposed children’s soft play centre in the street will have a Beano theme.”

Next year The Beano will celebrate its 75th anniversary.

The city development committee meets on Monday December 10.
