Council Tax Frozen
Dundee City Council has frozen the council tax for the 2013/14 financial year. The band D council tax for Dundee has been set at £1,211.
Savings of £6.5 million were made from a provisional revenue budget of £337 million to achieve this.
Finance spokesman, Cllr Willie Sawers said: “This is the seventh year in succession that the council tax has been frozen in Dundee.
“Within the overall budget, we have increased the spending on social work services by £4.8 million to help protect the most vulnerable in our community.
“We have also helped the lowest paid employees of the council by funding the introduction of the living wage of £7.50 per hour.
“However, the continuing savage cuts from the Westminster Government are making it more and more difficult to protect front-line services.”
