Environmental Improvements for Parks and Green Spaces Proposed

Over £105,000 worth of environmental improvements are being proposed for parks and green spaces across Dundee, as well as the city centre.
Areas of the city which could benefit from the investment are:
Environmental Improvements at Balgay Hill and Victoria Park
Dudhope Park Fencing
Environmental Improvements at Stobsmuir Pond (North) Phase 2
Take Pride Initiatives: Phase 2: Various improvements to street furniture incorporating ironmongery, to reduce clutter and improve aesthetics in City Centre.
Nature Restoration Fund: Protecting Species at Risk Infrastructure to further support Local Biodiversity Action Plan species conservation targets, through the installation of swift nesting boxes and amphibian ladders at various locations.
The programme will be considered by the Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure Committee at its next meeting.
Committee convener Councillor Steven Rome said: “The planned works outline a variety of improvements to outdoor assets throughout the city.
“I am also pleased to see the provision of city centre street furniture improvements as part of the Take Pride in Your City campaign. We are working to make the city centre as attractive as possible and this will assist in those efforts.
Climate, Environment and Biodiversity convener Councillor Heather Anderson added: “It’s now abundantly clear that the climate and nature crisis are two sides of the same coin. Everything we do to support our natural environment and improve biodiversity helps us not just tackle climate change but also make this city be an even better place to live in.”
The committee meets on Monday January 8, 2024.
