Design a Modern Council is the sixth phase of the Council’s Transformation Programme and is critical in supporting future financial plans and long-term sustainability, better services to citizens and improving outcomes for all. Previous phases of the programme have delivered savings and efficiencies of approximately £171m since 2010.The programme is bold and ambitious, outlining how the council is continuing its journey, responding to a changing world by embracing new technology and ways of working and meeting the needs of customers and communities. The current phase focuses on property rationalisation, digital, service re-design, people, third party payments and income generation.
To deliver our Modern Council vision, we need to: be lean and efficient with clear priorities; have a clear purpose and understanding about what the Council is best placed to deliver; take a structured approach to designing services with people and local communities; work across boundaries; help communities become more self-reliant and resilient; increase partnership working; have a values-based culture that will unlock and develop the skills and potential of our workforce.
