Housing

Mutual Exchange

The council has selected House Exchange as its web-based mutual exchange partner, providing Dundee City Council tenants with a simple, safe and effective way to exchange homes with other council tenants and registered social landlord tenants.

Previously tenants would have had to pay to use the service but since the council signed up to Dundee House Exchange council tenants will be able to use the service for free.

Homeless

If you are homeless or are likely to become homeless within the next two months you should get advice straight away.

You can call our 24 hour Homeless Advice Line 0800 633 5843 or 01382 432001 from a mobile.

Renting from a Housing Association

Housing associations, sometimes called registered social landlords (RSLs), are non-profit making friendly societies. They are run by professional staff and managed by a board of management made up of volunteers. These boards have overall responsibility for the work of the organisation. Board members may include residents, representatives from local authorities and community groups, business people and politicians.

Home Ownership

Most people would like to own their own home. When you own your own home, you own a real asset. Not only is your home very likely to grow in value as the years go by, but when you make the last payment on your mortgage, you will have a house that belongs entirely to you.

If you want to own your own home there are a number of options open to you.

Housing for Older People

Dundee City Council is committed to delivering a variety of older people services that allow individuals to live independently in their own homes.

We have a range of council housing specifically designed for older people. These are Sheltered, Very sheltered and Housing with care.

The housing is located within our thirty seven Sheltered Housing Complexes, which are spread across the city. Within each complex there is a communal lounge and laundry facilities.
