The minute of meeting of this Committee of 17th April, 2000 was held as read.

Unless marked thus * items stand delegated.

Councillor LETFORD, Convener, in the Chair.

I HOUSING DEPARTMENT - ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

It was reported that changes to CCT Regulations and the introduction of Best Value had enabled a review of the current Housing Contract Services Unit and the Performance Unit and that since there was no longer a requirement to maintain a client/contractor split, it was recommended that both Sections be merged into one to form the Housing Quality Unit.

The Committee approved the undernoted proposals as a result of the merging of the two Sections:-

(a)the deletion of the post of Principal Officer Contract Services Unit, graded PO9-12 (27,426 - 29,424);

(b)the deletion of the post of Monitors Officer, graded PO1-4 (22,083 - 24,009);

(c)the post of Costings/Administration Team Leader, graded PO1-4 (22,083 - 24,009), be transferred from the Contract Services Unit to the Housing Finance and Administration Unit.

It was further agreed that in order to achieve the above recommendations, the incumbent of the post of Principal Officer Contract Services Unit, who currently undertook the duties of the post of Area Manager, graded PO9-12 (27,426 - 29,424), on a temporary basis, be appointed on a permanent basis.

The Committee further agreed that as a consequence of efficiencies in service the undernoted posts be deleted from the organisational structure:-

The post of Clerical Officer, graded GS1/2 (8,304 - 11,685), in the Performance Unit, the post of Clerk of Works, graded T1-4 (11,898 - 19,224), Private Sector Grants Unit, the post of Housing Officer, graded AP2/3 (13,650 - 16,770), Private Sector Grants Unit, two posts of Management Trainee, graded GS3-AP1 (11,898 - 13,305), 0.5 of the post of Housing Officer, graded AP3 (15,240 - 16,770), in the Housing Renewal Unit.

The Committee further noted that the deletion of the posts listed would result in a total saving of 113,931 and efficiency consequent to rationalisation of services.

II SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT - PROPOSED CLOSURE OF DUDHOPE GARDENS HOSTEL

On a reference to Article I of the minute of meeting of the Social Work Committee of this date there was submitted Report No.245-2000 by the Directors of Social Work and Personnel and Management Services relative to the above.

The Committee approved the recommendations in the report so far as this Committee's interests were concerned.

JOHN LETFORD, Convener.
