The minute of meeting of this Committee of 22nd March 2001 was held as read.

 

Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.

 

I APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN

 

The Board agreed that Councillor Shimi be appointed Chairman for the forthcoming year, whereupon she took the Chair.

 

II APPOINTMENT OF SUB-COMMITTEE (DOOR STEWARDS)

 

The Board approved the formation of the Sub-Committee to deal with the registration of door stewards comprising the Convener and Councillors Fordyce and Mackie.

 

III MINIMUM CHARGE ON ENTERTAINMENT LICENCES

 

With regard to the annual review of the minimum charge for entry into premises holding Entertainment Licences, the Board agreed to retain the charge of 2.50.

 

IV REQUESTS FOR SUSPENSION HEARINGS IN TERMS OF SECTION 31

 

(1) ANDREW McALPINE, THE THREE BARRELS, 45 STRATHMARTINE ROAD

(2) ALLAN RAYMOND MILES, THE BEAT BAR, 51/53 MEADOWSIDE

 

In the case of Andrew McAlpine, The Three Barrels, the Board gave consideration to a letter from the Chief Constable suggesting that Mr McAlpine was no longer a fit and proper person to be the holder of a Public House Licence.

 

Thereafter, the Board agreed to refer this case to a Suspension Hearing in terms of Section 31 on a date to be agreed.

 

In the case of Allan Raymond Miles, The Beat Bar, the Board gave consideration to a letter from the Chief Constable suggesting that Mr Miles was no longer a fit and proper person to be the holder of a Public House Licence.

 

Thereafter, the Board agreed to refer this case to a Suspension Hearing in terms of Section 31 on a date to be agreed.

 

V GOALS, KINGS CROSS ROAD - PROVISIONAL GRANT - PUBLIC HOUSE

 

It was reported that the above licence had been refused by the Licensing Board and that, following an appeal, the Sheriff had remitted the matter back to the Board with instructions to grant.

 

The Board granted the application.
