The minute of meeting of this Committee of 19th February, 2001 was held as read.

I DUNDEE LAW - APPLICATION FOR USE

 

It was reported that a request had been received from the High Kirk, Dundee for permission to use an area of ground for an Easter Morning Service on Easter Sunday, 15th April, 2001 at 9 a.m.

 

The Committee approved the request subject to the necessary insurances being provided indemnifying the Council against damage to property, injury or loss of life etc. to members of the public and in addition, any services being provided by the department being paid for by the applicant.

 

II LOCHEE SWIMMING AND LEISURE CENTRE - USE OF POOL BY ETHNIC MINORITY WOMEN'S GROUP

 

On a reference to Article XII of the minute of meeting of the Cultural Services Committee of Dundee District Council of 22nd March, 1988 the Director of Leisure and Parks submitted Report No. 179-2001 requesting agreement on a policy in respect of Ethnic Minority Women's Group Swimming Sessions at Lochee Swimming and Leisure Centre.

 

The Committee agreed that the Ethnic Minority Women's Group Swimming Session be treated as a private hire and charged accordingly with effect from 1st May, 2001.

 

III PERMISSION TO USE THE GREEN CIRCULAR

 

It was reported that a request had been received from the Rotary Club of Claverhouse to hold a "Dundee Cyclethon" on Sunday, 10th June, 2001 on the Green Circular.

 

The Committee agreed that permission be granted to the Rotary Club to hold the event on the sections of the Green Circular Route which were managed and maintained by the Council.

 

The Committee also noted that this permission would be subject to the necessary insurances being provided indemnifying the City Council against damage to property, injury or loss of life etc. to members of the public and in addition, any services being provided by the department being paid for by the applicant.

 

IV CAIRD PARK - APPLICATION FOR USE

 

It was reported that a request had been received from Phillips International Events Limited to hold an "International Thrill and Stunt Show" on 3rd and 4th July, 2001 at Caird Park.

 

The Committee approved the request and remitted to the Director of Economic Development to enter into a Lease agreement, subject to the organisation meeting all the normal requirements relating to insurance, costs and, in particular, health and safety.

 

V BALGAY HILL - APPLICATION FOR USE

 

It was reported that a request had been received from Balgay Parish Church for permission to use an area of ground for an Easter Morning Service on Easter Sunday, 15th April, 2001 from 8 a.m. to 8.30 a.m.

 

The Committee approved the request subject to the necessary insurances being provided indemnifying the Council against damage to property, injury or loss of life etc. to members of the public and in addition, any services being provided by the department being paid for by the applicant.

 

VI CAMPERDOWN COUNTRY PARK EVENTS - FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE

 

In the light of advice and precautions received in respect of the Foot and Mouth Disease, the Committee agreed to remit to the Director of Leisure and Parks to postpone any events which were of a potential risk and which might have been previously agreed by this Committee in the interest of reducing the risk of contamination etc.

 

The Committee also noted that each event would be assessed in consultation with the Environmental Health and Consumer Protection Department.

 

VII REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO SITE MOBILE TELEPHONE TRANSMITTER MASTS FOR ONE TO ONE AT DUNDEE ROAD WEST AND CLAYPOTTS PARK

 

The Director of Leisure and Parks submitted Report No. 194-2001 requesting consideration of a request by the Agent for One to One for permission to site mobile transmission masts at Claypotts Park, Arbroath Road and Dundee Road West.

 

The Committee agreed to defer consideration of this report.
