The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No 560-2001 to consider progress on proposals regarding the seasonal opening of Camperdown House.

The Committee,

(a)Noted that the Friends of Camperdown did not wish to progress with a lease for Camperdown House at this time and did not feel in a position to commit to operating a seasonal opening.

(b)Approved in principle, the staging of an exhibition as a promotional event at Camperdown House in 2004 to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of Admiral Duncan.

(d)Remitted to the Director of Arts and Heritage to explore the potential of a seasonal catering operation in part of the house.

IV COLLECTING AND DISPOSAL POLICY

The Director of Arts and Heritage recommended that the Committee adopted the Collecting and Disposal Policy 1999 - 2004 containing a revision as described. The Scheme had been extended to Phase 2 to improve the standards and address issues arising from Phase 2 of the Scheme. To allow progression to Phase 2 of the Scheme a revision was necessary to the Collecting and Disposal Policy.

The Committee agreed to the proposed revision as undernoted:-

"Collecting outside the current stated policy should only be made in very exceptional circumstances and that only after proper consideration by the Arts and Heritage Committee of Dundee City Council having regard to the interest of other museums".
