Personnel Appeals Sub-committee - 05/11/2001

At a MEETING of the PERSONNEL APPEALS SUB-COMMITTEE held at Dundee on 5th November, 2001.

Councillor Petrie withdrew from the second appeal with Councillor Sawers substituting.

 

Councillor Fordyce substituted for Councillor Regan for the third appeal.

 

Councillor REGAN, in the Chair for the first two appeals and Councillor Petrie in the Chair for the third appeal.

 

The minute of meeting of this Committee of 29th October, 2001 was held as read.

 

Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.

 

The Sub-Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

I EDUCATION DEPARTMENT - REGRADING APPEAL - PAYROLL

 

It was reported that an appeal had been submitted by Clerical Officers, Education Department, Payroll Section, in respect of a regrading.

 

The Sub-Committee heard a spokesperson on behalf of the Appellants and thereafter the Council's representative. After questions had been put and answers given by both parties to each other and by members of the Sub-Committee and its advisers, the parties withdrew.

 

Thereafter, following careful consideration of all the information, the Sub-Committee agreed that the grounds of the appeal had been substantiated and that the appeal be upheld.

 

II ENVIRONMENTAL AND CONSUMER PROTECTION DEPARTMENT - REGRADING APPEAL: CLERICAL ASSISTANT

 

It was reported that an appeal had been submitted by a Clerical Assistant, Environmental and Consumer Protection Department, in respect of a regrading.

 

The Sub-Committee heard a spokesperson on behalf of the Appellant and thereafter the Council's representative. After questions had been put and answers given by both parties to each other and by members of the Sub-Committee and its advisers, the parties withdrew.

 

Thereafter, following careful consideration of all the information, the Sub-Committee agreed that the grounds of the appeal had been substantiated and that the appeal be upheld.

 

Councillor Scott requested that his dissent be noted.

 

III SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT - REGRADING DEPARTMENT: CLERICAL ASSISTANT (OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY)

 

It was reported that an appeal had been submitted by a Clerical Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Social Work Department, in respect of a regrading.

 

The Sub-Committee heard the Appellant and thereafter the Council's representative. After questions had been put and answers given by both parties to each other and by members of the Sub-Committee and its advisers, the parties withdrew.

 

Thereafter, following careful consideration of all the information, the Sub-Committee agreed that the grounds of the appeal had not been substantiated and that the appeal be not upheld.
