I INVESTORS IN PEOPLE - ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES DIVISION

 

It was reported and noted that the Architectural Services Division of the Support Services Department had gained accreditation for their Investors in People procedure.

 

II LOCAL AGENDA 21 STRATEGY

 

On a reference to Article II of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 9th March, 1998 there was submitted Report No. 715-2001 by the Chief Executive seeking approval for the publication and distribution of a document entitled "Sustaining Dundee's Future: The Local Agenda 21 Strategy for Dundee".

 

The Committee approved accordingly.

 

III DUNDEE HEALTHY LIVING INITIATIVE

 

On a reference to Article I of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 11th December, 2000 there was submitted Report No. 768-2001 by the Director of Corporate Planning seeking approval for a Stage 2 funding bid to be made for a Healthy Living Centre grant from the New Opportunities Fund.

 

The Committee approved accordingly.

 

IV POLICY ON FAIR TRADE PRODUCTS

 

There was submitted Report No. 736-2001 by the Director of Corporate Planning proposing the adoption of a policy on Fair Trade products for the City Council.

 

The Committee adopted the Fair Trade resolution outlined in Section 7 of the report.

 

V SUSTAIN DUNDEE (DUNDEE ENVIRONMENT TRUST)

 

On a reference to Article IV of the minute of meeting of the Environmental and Consumer Protection Committee of 16th April, 2001 there was submitted Report No. 758-2001 by the Chief Executive seeking approval for the creation of Sustain Dundee (an independent environmental trust) in order to attract landfill tax credits and other sources of funding of sustainable development projects in Dundee.

The Committee

 

(a) approved the creation of Sustain Dundee, a charitable company limited by guarantee and the draft Memorandum and Articles appended to the report;

 

(b) remitted to the Director of Support Services to secure charitable status for Sustain Dundee and register Sustain Dundee with Companies House;

 

(c) remitted to the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection to register Sustain Dundee with Entrust; and

 

(d) appointed one member of the Majority Group, one member of the Major Opposition Group and one member of the Minority Group to join the Board of Directors of Sustain Dundee.

 

In addition, it was agreed that the Independent and the Liberal Democrat members be invited to participate.

 

VI MILLENNIUM FUND

 

On a reference to Article VII of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 8th February, 1999 there was submitted Report No. 789-2001 by the Chief Executive reporting on the financial outcome of the Millennium celebrations.

 

The Committee

 

(i) noted the financial outcome of the Millennium celebrations;

 

(ii) approved the uncommitted balance of funds remaining in the Millennium Fund being allocated for Dundee Festival purposes; and

 

(iii) agreed that up to 10,000 per annum be allocated for Dundee Festival purposes until the Millennium Fund was depleted.
