I EUROPEAN UNION OF SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT

 

There was submitted Report No 423-2003 by the Director of Personnel and Management Services advising the Committee of the election of Mr Mike Evans, Manager of the Council's employment Disability Unit (EDU), to Vice-President of the European Union of Supported Employment (EUSE), and seeking authority for Mr Evans to participate in EUSE activities.

 

The Committee approved accordingly, and extended their congratulations to Mr Evans on this appointment.

 

II EMPLOYMENT AND DISABILITY AWARENESS GUIDE

 

There was submitted Report No 424-2003 by the Director of Personnel and Management Services advising the Committee of the development and publication of an Employment and Disability Awareness Guide for Dundee City Council.

 

The Committee noted this initiative and approved the distribution of the Guide to all Departments of the Council.

 

III EDUCATION DEPARTMENT - EARLY RETIREMENT

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN293-2003 recommending the early retirement of an Administrative Officer (ER4/03) within the Education Department.

 

The Committee approved the early retirement as detailed in the note on the grounds of the efficiency of the service from 14th July 2003 in accordance with the Local Government Pension Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 1998.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public and press be excluded during consideration of the undernoted items on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of information which is exempt in terms of paragraph 1 of Schedule 7A to the Act.

 

IV CORPORATE PLANNING DEPARTMENT - REGRADING OF POSTS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN294-2003 advising that at the request of the Director of Corporate Planning, the Director of Personnel and Management Services had reviewed the duties and responsibilities of a number of posts in the Corporate Planning Department.

 

The Committee approved the recommendations detailed in the note, having noted that the cost of implementing these recommendations would be 6,200, inclusive of employer's costs, in the current financial year and 7,850, inclusive of employer's costs, in a full financial year and could be contained within the department's Revenue Budget.

 

V SUPPORT SERVICES DEPARTMENT - REGRADING OF POST

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN314-2003 advising that at the request of the Director of Support Services, the Director of Personnel and Management Services had reviewed the duties and responsibilities of a post within the Support Services Department and recommended that it be regraded.

 

The Committee approved the proposal, having noted that the cost of implementing this recommendation would be 1,170, inclusive of employer's costs, in the current financial year and 1,480 in a full financial year and that the additional cost could be contained within the department's Revenue Budget.
