The minute of meeting of this Committee of 16th June, 2003 was held as read.

 

Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.

 

I MAJOR PROJECT GRANTS AND SMALL PROJECT GRANTS

 

The Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 458-2003 seeking approval towards grant to an arts and heritage organisation.

 

The Committee authorised a payment of 400 for the grant detailed in the Appendix to the report.

 

II SKATEBOARD PARKS

 

The Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 461-2003 advising the Committee of possible sites for outdoor skate parks and future development proposals.

 

The Committee -

 

(a)remitted to the Director of Leisure and Arts to consult with the City Centre Skateboard Group on the potential city centre sites as outlined in Section 6.8 of the report;

 

(b)remitted to the Director of Leisure and Arts to consult with local community groups regarding community skateboard parks in Linlathen and a site in the west of Dundee as outlined in Section 6.12 of the report; and

 

(c)remitted to the Director of Leisure and Arts to bring forward a report to the Committee on the outcome of the consultation.

 

III CLATTO PARK - CLATTO BARNS - SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN332-2003 advising the Committee that the Department had been looking at improving the security of Clatto Barns which was located in Clatto Park and used as a storage facility for the Leisure and Arts Department.

 

The Committee agreed to accept a quotation from a specialist supplier, Electro Guard Security Systems, amounting to 2,252 for the supply and installation of an intruder alarm system including infrared detectors and alarm monitoring system.

IV TENDERS RECEIVED - LOCHEE SWIMMING AND LEISURE CENTRE - GLAZING FILM TO POOLSIDEWINDOWS

 

The City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 464-2003 giving details of an offer from a specialist contractor to carry out the above work.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer by the specialist contractor, Fenestra Films, Grangemouth amounting to 4,310 to which required to be added an allowance of 690 for professional services making a total expenditure of 5,000.

 

V LOCHEE SWIMMING AND LEISURE CENTRE - ANNUAL CLOSURE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN334-2003 reporting that to enable an annual equipment survey and essential maintenance programme at Lochee Swimming and Leisure Centre to take place permission was requested for the Centre to be closed from Tuesday, 19th August to Sunday, 31st August, 2003 both dates inclusive.

 

The Committee approved accordingly.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

 

VI FAIRFIELD PARK - APPLICATION FOR LEASE

 

The Director of Leisure and Arts and the Director of Economic Development submitted Joint Report No 459-2003 seeking a decision on applications for lease of Fairfield Park.

 

The Committee agreed that the application from the interested club be accepted on the terms and conditions detailed and remitted to the Director of Economic Development to negotiate payment for the current occupation and an annual lease charge in the future.
