Recess Sub-committee - 04/08/2003

At a MEETING of the RECESS SUB-COMMITTEE held at Dundee on 4th August 2003.

I FORMER RESIDENTIAL HOME, HAREFIELD HOUSE, CLEMENT PARK PLACE AND DUDHOPE ADULTRESOURCE CENTRE/DUDHOPE GARDENS HOSTEL

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN352-2003 advising that for operational reasons the former residential home, Harefield House, Clement Park Place and the former Dudhope Adult Resource Centre and Hostel, Dudhope Terrace had been closed down and the Social Work Department had no further use for these buildings

 

The Sub-Committee agreed to declare these buildings surplus to requirements and remitted to the Director of Economic Development to market and dispose of the properties.

 

The Sub-Committee also noted that the Dudhope Adult Resource Centre and Hostel had also suffered recent fire damage and it was proposed that the building be demolished and the site cleared prior to marketing for disposal.

 

The Sub-Committee authorised the City Engineer to negotiate and accept a competitive contract falling within the budget cost of 135,000 inclusive of fees.

 

II REPLACEMENT CIVIC CARS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN350-2003 reporting that the Lease Agreement on the current vehicles expired in October 2003 and Officers had sought suitable replacements.

 

The Sub-Committee agreed that TS1 be replaced on a like for like basis i.e. a Volvo S80 Executive and that the civic car, an MPV, also be replaced with a Volvo S80.

 

The Sub-Committee also noted that the annual costs for a four-year lease were as undernoted including telephone and Satellite Navigational System:-

III CLEANING OF BUILDINGS CONTRACT - WINDOW CLEANING - CITY SQUARE COMPLEX/CAIRD HALLCOMPLEX AND ALL HOUSING OFFICES

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN351-2003 reporting that the previous contract for window cleaning in the City Square Complex had expired and offers had been invited for a new contract to take effect from 1st August 2003 for a period of three years.

 

The Sub-Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer from Dundee Cleaning Services amounting to 2,390.

 

IV SMARTCARD CONSULTANCY TENDER

 

On a reference to Article V of the minute of meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee of 6th November 2002 the Director of Planning & Transportation submitted Report No 545-2003 giving details of offers received for the Dundee Discovery Smartcard Scheme.

 

The Sub-Committee agreed to accept the most advantageous tender by ESP Systex amounting to 63,000 including expenses for the cost of the consultancy appointment.
