The minute of meeting of this Committee of 4th September 2003 was held as read.

 

Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that this would involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 3, 6, 9 and 14 of Part I of Schedule 7 (A) to the above Act.

 

I CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982

 

(a) TAXI DRIVER'S LICENCE - SUSPENSION HEARINGS

 

(i)There was submitted a letter of complaint by the Chief Constable relative to the alleged conduct of Mr S P during the currency of his Taxi Driver's Licence. Thereafter, having heard an Agent on behalf of the licence holder, a representative of Tayside Police and the advice of the legal officer, Bailie Corrigan seconded by Councillor Morrow moved that no further action be taken

 

As an amendment, the Convener, seconded by Councillor Regan moved that the licence be suspended.

 

On a division, there voted for the motion - Councillor Grant, Morrow, Dick, Dawson, Bailie Corrigan, Bailie Powrie and Councillor Webster (7); and for the amendment - the Convener and Councillor Regan (2) whereupon the motion was declared carried and the Committee agreed that no further action be taken.

 

The Lord Provost and Councillor Roberts entered the room prior to discussion of the following item.

 

(ii)There was submitted a letter by the Chief Constable relative to the alleged conduct of Mr J F during the currency of his Taxi Driver's Licence.

 

Thereafter, the Committee, after having heard an Agent on behalf of the licence holder and a representative of Tayside Police agreed that the application be suspended with immediate effect for the unexpired period of the licence.

 

(iii)There was submitted a letter of complaint by the Chief Constable relative to the alleged conduct of Mr R S during the currency of his Taxi Driver's Licence.

 

The Committee, after noting that the licence holder was not present, agreed that consideration of this matter be submitted to a future meeting of the Committee to allow the licence holder to be present.
