I VEHICLE PURCHASES

 

There was submitted Report No 815-2003 by the Head of Waste Management seeking authority to purchase one additional mini-compact sweeping vehicle and one additional 3.5 tonne team-sweeping vehicle.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offers from the suppliers detailed below:-

II DETAILED ASSESSMENT OF AIR QUALITY IN DUNDEE - APPOINTMENT OF SPECIALIST CONTRACTOR

 

On a reference to Article I of the minute of meeting of the Environmental and Consumer Protection Committee held on 16th June, 2003 wherein approval was given for the completion of a detailed assessment in respect of the air pollutants nitrogen dioxide (NO2), particulates (PM10) and sulphur dioxide (SO2). There was submitted Agenda Note AN541-2003 reporting that the City Council was in the process of undertaking an assessment in accordance with the National Air Quality Strategy, and that as such building height data was required in order to undertake the necessary pollutant dispersion modelling.

 

It was reported that one specialist company (The GeoInformation Group) was able to provide the data in the appropriate format for the cost of 8,550.

 

The Committee approved the appointment of the GeoInformation Group to carry out this specialist work at a cost of 8,550.

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that this would involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 3, 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) to the above Act.

 

III CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982 - SECTION 87(1) - BUILDINGS IN NEED OF REPAIR

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN543-2003 reporting that notices had been served on the owners of various properties requiring works to be carried out.

 

The Committee agreed that the Head of Environmental Health and Trading Standards be authorised to carry out the works should the owners not comply within the time allowed in the notices.
