I COMMUNITIES DEPARTMENT SERVICE PLAN 2003-2007

There was submitted Report No 18-2004 by the Head of Communities seeking Committee approval for the Communities Department's Service Plan 2003-2007.

The Committee noted and approved the Communities Department's Service Plan 2003-2007 which was appended to the report.

II CITIZENSHIP IN YOUTH WORK

There was submitted Report No 26-2004 by the Head of Communities advising the Committee of the publication by HM Inspectorate of Education of a report entitled 'Citizenship in Youth Work' which highlighted amongst other examples of best practice The Corner, Young Persons Health and Information Project in Dundee.

The Committee noted the publication of the report and its significance for youth work in Dundee and instructed the Head of Communities to promote discussion on the issues raised by the report for Youth Workers in both the Local Authority and voluntary sectors.

III SOCIAL INCLUSION PARTNERSHIP ALLOCATION OF RESOURCES AND SMALL GRANTS 2003/04

(a) to note the outcome of the SIP decision-making process and agree the proposals contained in Section 8 of the report.

(b) to instruct officers to proceed with implementation of these proposals and conditions contained in Appendix A.

(c) to approve the SIP 1 Small Grants detailed in Appendix B.

IV MENZIESHILL COMMUNITY COUNCIL

There was submitted Agenda Note AN1-2004 advising that the Menzieshill Community Council was established in May 2003 under Dundee City Council's Revised Scheme for the Operation of Community Councils. The Menzieshill Community Council boundaries stretched across three of Dundee City Council's electoral wards (Ninewells, Camperdown and Balgay) and two parliamentary constituencies in Dundee and Angus. The Community Council boundaries included the Menzieshill area to the south of the Kingsway and the Denhead of Gray/Benvie area to the north of the Kingsway.

For the past six months, the Community Council had found it difficult to find a name which fully reflected their area without overlapping into the territories of neighbouring Community Councils.

The Committee approved the proposed name change to 'Menzieshill, Balgay, Denhead of Gray, Benvie and Gourdie Community Council' and approved a Community Council administration grant of 399 for the period May 2003 - March 2004.

KEVIN KEENAN, Convener.
