I DL0/DSO FINANCIAL OPERATING STATEMENTS FOR THE NINE MONTHS ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2003

 

There was submitted Report No. 124-2004 by the Chief Executive and Depute Chief Executive (Finance) appraising the Committee on the financial position of the City Council's Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) and Direct Service Organisations (DSO) for the nine months ended 31st December, 2003.

 

The Committee agreed to:

 

(i) note the current financial position of each of the respective DLO and DSOs; and

 

(ii) instruct the appropriate Chief Officers within each DLO and DSO to take the necessary actions to ensure that their DLO/DSO's budgeted surplus is achieved in the financial year 2003/2004.

 

II DIRECT LABOUR ORGANISATION OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE FOR THE NINE MONTHS ENDED 31STDECEMBER 2003

 

There was submitted Report No. 123-2004 by the Director of Dundee Contract Services informing the Committee of the operational performance of the City Council's Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) for the nine months ended 31st December, 2003.

 

The Committee agreed to:

 

(i) note the operational performance of the DLO for the period stated and

 

(ii) where necessary, instruct the relevant Chief Officers within the City Council to take the appropriate steps to ensure the DLO achieves its performance targets.

 

III MYREKIRK TERRACE - LANDSCAPING OF CLOSED CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN59-2004 informing the Committee that the Myrekirk Terrace children's playground which was closed through the Council's rationalisation of playgrounds would be landscaped to create a more suitable and functional open space.

 

The Committee agreed the project to be funded over two financial years from the provision of 7,985 remaining in this year's capital budget and 13,075 from the provision of 50,000 in Dundee Contract Services 2004/05 capital budget for public open space improvements and that the work be carried out by Dundee Contract Services, Parks Section.

 

The Convener agreed that the undernoted item be considered as a matter of urgency in terms of Standing Order No17(B) in view of the timescales involved.

 

IV CAMPERDOWN NURSERY AND GLASSHOUSES - SUPPLY AND ERECTION OF POLYTUNNELS

 

There was submitted Report No 157-2004 by the Director of Dundee Contract Services seeking approval to purchase two polytunnels to be located within the Department's Hardwood Nursery and Glasshouse Yard in Camperdown Park to replace two polytunnels damaged over previous winters.

 

The Committee agreed that two polytunnels be purchased on a supply and erection basis from Clovis Lande Associates Ltd, East Peckham, Kent, at a total cost of 14,762.40.
