I RESPONSE TO SCOTTISH EXECUTIVE - REDUCING RE-OFFENDING CONSULTATION

 

There was submitted Report No 343-2004 by the Director of Social Work on the launch of the Scottish Executive's Reducing Re-offending consultation and the background to it and seeking approval of the response to the consultation document which was detailed in the report.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i)that the current consultation on reducing re-offending and its significance in shaping arrangements for future Criminal Justice Social Work Service delivery in Scotland be noted;  and

 

(ii)that the draft response as detailed in the report be approved.

 

II PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT BETWEEN DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL AND BARNARDO'S SCOTLAND

 

There was submitted Report No 344-2004 by the Director of Social Work seeking approval of a Partnership Agreement between Dundee City Council and Barnardo's Scotland.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i)that the work undertaken by Barnardo's Scotland in providing a range of services for children, young people and their families in Dundee be acknowledged;  and

 

(ii)that the Director of Social Work be remitted to enter into a Partnership Agreement with Barnardo's Scotland and to keep the agreement under review and to agree any necessary future variations of the agreement.

III STANDARD CHARGES FOR LOCAL AUTHORITY RESIDENTIAL UNITS

 

There was submitted Report No 345-2004 by the Director of Social Work on the recommended level of standard charge to be applied in 2004/2005 for local authority residential accommodation for adults.

 

The Committee agreed that the standard charges for local authority residential accommodation as detailed in the report be approved.

 

IV CONFERENCE - ALTERNATIVES TO CUSTODY

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN211-2004 reporting that a Conference entitled "Alternatives to Custody" would be held on Tuesday, 15th June, 2004 at the Ibis Hotel, Earl's Court, London the cost of attendance being approximately 340 per person, excluding travel and subsistence allowances.

 

The Committee agreed to the attendance of the Convener and the Shadow Convener, Councillor Elizabeth F Fordyce.
