II REPRESENTATION ON OUTSIDE BODIES
There was submitted Agenda Note AN238-2004.
(a) CITY OF DUNDEE EDUCATIONAL TRUST
Reference was made to Article VII (7) of the minute of meeting of the City Council of 15th May, 2003, wherein it was agreed that the Lord Provost, Education Convener, two members of the SNP Group and one member of the Conservative Group be appointed to serve on the above.
It was reported that the Lord Provost wished to resign from the Trust and agreed that the position be filled by Councillor Morrow
(b) SCOTTISH COUNCIL FOR DEAFNESS
Reference was made to Article IV (23) of the minute of meeting of the City Council of 9th June, 2003, wherein it was agreed that the Lord Provost be appointed to serve on the above.
It was reported that the Lord Provost wished to resign from the Council and agreed that the position be filled by Councillor Hind.
(c) TAYSIDE ASSOCIATION FOR THE DEAF
Reference was made to Article IV (25) of the minute of meeting of the City Council of 9th June, 2003, wherein it was agreed that one member of the Administration and one member of the SNP Group be appointed to serve on the above.
It was reported that the Lord Provost wished to resign from the Association and agreed that the position be filled by Councillor Hind.
(d) WEBSTER AND DAVIDSON MORTIFICATION FOR THE BLIND
Reference was made to Article VII (16) of the minute of meeting of the City Council of 15th May, 2003, wherein it was agreed that the Lord Provost be appointed to serve on the above.
It was reported that the Lord Provost wished to resign from this organisation and agreed that the position be filled by Councillor Regan.
(e) PERTH PRISON VISITING COMMITTEE
Reference was made to Article IV (31) of the minute of meeting of the City Council of 9th June, 2003, wherein it was agreed that two members of the Administration, two members of the SNP Group and one member of the Conservative Group be appointed to serve on the above.
It was reported that Councillor Beattie had intimated his resignation and agreed that it be remitted to the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) to advertise the vacancy within the Groups on the Council seeking a non-elected Member to fill the position.
III D-DAY LANDINGS
There was submitted Agenda Note AN243-2004 intimating that the Lord Provost wished to attend a Commemoration Service on 6th July, 2004 in La Cressonniere, Normandy to mark the sacrifice of a Dundee Pilot Robert Robb Blair who was shot down over Normandy a month after D-Day. Robert was buried in the small churchyard in the Normandy village and the locals had tended his grave for 60 years.
The Council authorised the Lord Provost and the Council Officer to attend this service and take the opportunity to lay a wreath to honour the sacrifice of all those from Dundee who fell during the war at an estimated cost of 500.
