I DUNDEE CONTRACT SERVICES FINANCIAL OPERATING STATEMENT AND OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE FOR THE NINE MONTHS ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2005

There was submitted Report No 129-2006 by the Depute Chief Executive (Finance) and Director of Dundee Contract Services appraising the Committee on the financial position and operational performance of Dundee Contract Services (DCS) for the nine months ended 31st December 2005.

The Committee agreed to note:-

(i) the current financial position and operational performance of Dundee Contract Services,

(ii) the actions Dundee Contract Services management were taking in an effort to achieve the current financial year's budgeted surplus, and

(iii) that Dundee Contract Services should exceed the statutory requirement of break even for the third year of a three year rolling period.

II CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUNDS - INSTALLATION OF SELF CLOSING GATES

There was submitted Agenda Note AN8-2006 informing the Committee that the installation of grills at the entrance to children's playgrounds to prevent dogs and other animals entering playgrounds had caused problems with health and safety and maintenance issues. It was proposed to gradually replace the grills with self closing gates as these were safer and maintenance free.

The Committee agreed that Dundee Contract Services be authorised to carry out works up to an amount of 9,228, the expenditure being met from the provision of 50,000, allowed for playgrounds under Quality of Life Funding in 2005/2006.
