I EXTENSION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE SCOTTISH VETERANS' GARDENS CITY ASSOCIATION - 36 HOUSES IN BARNHILL

 

This item was withdrawn from consideration.

 

II RIGHT TO REPAIR 2006-2007

 

There was submitted Report No 547-2006 by the City Architectural Services Officer advising that under the Right to Repair - Housing (Scotland) Act 2001, the City Council would be required to maintain a list of contractors prepared to carry out qualifying repairs. This list would include the usual Contractor, which in the City Council's case would be Dundee Contract Services.

 

The report also sought approval for the inclusion on this list of interested contractors provided they were on the Council's select tender list and had submitted reasonable jobbing rates. The list would be maintained by the Director of Housing.

 

The Committee agreed that five firms below who had expressed an interest be included on the list of contractors prepared to carry out qualifying repairs:-

 

All Glass and Glazing

Logie Glazing and Building Services

McGill Electrical Ltd

Wardah Electrics Ltd

Ward Building Services Ltd

 

The Committee further agreed that authority be delegated to the Director of Housing for the addition or deletion of firms to or from the list in consultation with the City Architectural Services Officer and/or the Depute Chief Executive (Finance) as may be appropriate.

 

III REGISTERED TENANT ASSOCIATIONS - ADMINISTRATIVE GRANTS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN310-2006 reporting that a request for grant assistance towards administration costs for 2006/2007 had been received from Balmoral Tenants' and Residents' Association.

 

The Committee agreed grant assistance amounting to 500.

 

IV REGISTRATION OF TENANT ORGANISATIONS - HOUSING (SCOTLAND) ACT 2001 (THE ACT)

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN311-2006 reporting that a request for re-registration as a tenant organisation had been received from Blackness Area Residents' Association.

 

The Committee agreed that the application be approved.

 

V HOUSING (SCOTLAND) ACT 2001 - IMPROVEMENT, REPAIR AND ENVIRONMENTAL GRANTS, HOME LOANS ETC

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN312-2006. Reference was made to the minute of meeting held on 15th November, 1999 when grant expenditure now under Private Sector Housing Grant was agreed.

 

It was agreed that the grants approved during August 2006 in each of the categories were as follows:-

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 6 and 9 of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

VI GROUND AT 47 LEYSHADE COURT

 

There was submitted Report No 515-2006 by the Director of Economic Development seeking approval for the sale of ground at 47 Leyshade Court, Dundee.

 

The Committee agreed to the sale of an area of ground on the terms and conditions detailed.
