II COSLA - EXECUTIVE GROUPS - APPOINTMENTS

Reference was made to Article X of the minute of meeting of the Statutory Meeting of the City Council of 24th May, 2007, wherein it was agreed that various appointments be made to COSLA Executive Groups.

It was now reported that the Convention, at its meeting held on 29th June, 2007, approved a revised interim structure and therefore the Council had been invited to appoint representatives to serve on various Executive Groups.

The Lord Provost, seconded by Councillor Keenan, moved that the undernoted be appointed to serve on the Groups as shown:-

1 Health and Wellbeing - Bailie Wright

2 Education, Children and Young People - Councillor Bidwell

3 Community Wellbeing and Safety - Bailie Regan

4 Regeneration and Sustainable Development - Councillor Macpherson

5 Resources and Capacity - Councillor Morrow

As an amendment, Councillor Will Dawson, seconded by Councillor Duncan, moved that the undernoted be appointed:-

1 Health and Wellbeing - Councillor Hunter

2 Education, Children and Young People - Councillor Fordyce

3 Community Wellbeing and Safety - Councillor Bowes

4 Regeneration and Sustainable Development - Councillor Roberts

5 Resources and Capacity - Bailie Sawers

On a division, there voted for the motion - Lord Provost Letford, Bailies Wright and Scott and Councillors Keenan, Asif, Bidwell, Ferguson, Gordon, McCready, Morrow, Regan, Macpherson, Dick, Wallace and Hay (15); and for the amendment - Bailie Sawers and Councillors Guild, Barrie, Black, Bowes, Andy Dawson and Will Dawson, Don, Duncan, Fordyce, Hunter, Lynn and Roberts (13) - Bailie Borthwick declining to vote.

III PRISON VISITING COMMITTEE HMP OPEN ESTATE

Reference was made to Article I of the minute of meeting of the City Council of 25th June, 2007, wherein it was remitted to the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) to establish within the Groups which nominations they would wish to be put forward to the vacancies existing on the HMP Open Estate Visiting Committee.

The Council agreed that Mr Bruce Mackie be appointed to serve on the HMP Open Estate Visiting Committee.
