The minute of meeting of this Committee of 24th September, 2007 was held as read.

I HEALTH AND MENTAL WELLBEING POLICY FOR SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT STAFF MEMBERS

 

There was submitted Report No 504-2007 by the Director of Social Work on the proposed Health and Mental Wellbeing Policy for Social Work Department staff members, and proposals for its implementation.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to approve the policy; and

 

(ii) the proposals for implementation and training as outlined in the report.

 

The Committee further agreed that progress be monitored with a view to the policy being extended to other departments within the City Council.

 

II TAYSIDE COMMUNITY JUSTICE AUTHORITY AREA PLAN 2008-2011 AND ACTION PLAN 2008-2009

 

There was submitted Report No 521-2007 by the Director of Social Work providing information on the Tayside Community Justice Authority Area Plan and Action Plan which were statutory requirements of the Management of Offenders etc (Scotland) Act 2005.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note the content of the Tayside Community Justice Authority Area Plan and Action Plan; and

 

(ii) that the Director of Social Work be remitted to prepare a Plan for presentation to Committee in March 2008 which would specifically meet the needs of Dundee citizens in supporting the overall aim of the Community Justice Authority in reducing re-offending.

III SPECIALIST MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS PROVISION IN DUNDEE

 

There was submitted Report No 527-2007 by the Director of Social Work seeking approval of the new multi-disciplinary initiative in the area of multiple sclerosis services in Dundee.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to take forward this multi-disciplinary initiative; and

 

(ii) to instruct the Director of Social Work to progress the establishment changes outlined in the report.

 

IV GRANTS TO VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS 2007/2008

 

Councillor Ken Lynn declared a non-financial interest in this item of business by virtue of his employment with Dundee Cyrenians who shared accommodation with Starter Packs Dundee.

 

Councillor Mohammed Asif and Councillor Jimmy Black declared non-financial interests in this item of business by virtue of their Council appointments to the Grey Lodge Settlement Association.

 

There was submitted Report No 522-2007 by the Director of Social Work detailing the recommendations on Section 10 grant awards to voluntary organisations for 2007/2008.

 

The Committee agreed payment to the voluntary organisations as listed in Appendix 1 of the report at the levels outlined.
