I TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No 380-2007 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing a tender received in respect of alterations to the boiler flue at St Mary's Primary School.

 

The Committee authorised acceptance of an offer from Scan Building Services Limited in the sum of 35,000, together with allowances for CDM Co-ordinator and Professional Services amounting to 5,422, giving a total of 40,422.

 

The Committee also noted that Scan Building Services Limited had listed the undernoted sub-contractors:-

 

JRF Chimney Specialists Ltd, Glenrothes

Chimney Work

Bruce Jamieson, Dundee

Electrical Work

Land & Building Services, Dundee

Builder Work

K2 Specialist Services (UK) Ltd, Midlothian

II THE FORMAL CONSULTATION PROCESS ON THE PROPOSED EARLY MERGER OF MID CRAIGIE PRIMARY SCHOOL AND MOSSGIEL PRIMARY SCHOOL

 

The Sub-Committee acceded to a request for a deputation to address the Committee relative to the above. After the deputation had stated its case and answered questions from members of the Sub-Committee, it was thanked for its attendance and withdrew.

 

Thereafter, there was submitted Report No 376-2007 by the Director of Education detailing the representations made during the formal publication and consultation exercise on the proposed early merger of Mossgiel and Mid Craigie Primary Schools and seeking approval to proceed with the proposal to merge Mossgiel and Mid Craigie in the Mid Craigie building to be known as Rowantree Primary School from 13th August, 2007.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(a) note the representations made during the formal publication and consultation exercise on the proposed early merger of Mossgiel and Mid Craigie Primary Schools;

 

(b) instruct the Director of Education to proceed with the proposal to merge Mossgiel and Mid Craigie in the Mid Craigie building to be known as Rowantree Primary School from 13th August, 2007; and

(c) note that the Mossgiel school building and site would be surplus to requirements, and remit them to the Economic Development Department for consideration of future use and/or disposal.

 

III INVITATION TO TENDER FOR THE SUPPLY OF SMARTCARD READERS

 

There was submitted Report No 377-2007 by the Assistant Chief Executive (Community Planning) seeking approval for the acceptance of the most advantageous tender for smartcard readers on behalf of the National Entitlement Card programme.

 

The Committee agreed to approve acceptance of a tender amounting to 214,807.50 from Gemini 2000 Limited for the purchase of smartcard readers.

 

The Convener agreed that the undernoted items IV and VI of business be considered as a matter of urgency in terms of Standing Order No 17(b) and in view of the timescales involved.

 

IV PRISON VISITING COMMITTEE HMP OPEN ESTATE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN191-2007, making reference to Article I of the minute of meeting of Dundee City Council of 25th June, 2007, whereby it was remitted to the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) to establish with the groups which nominations they would wish to be put forward for the vacancies existing on HMP Open Estate Visiting Committee.

 

The Sub-Committee noted that Mrs Vera Joiner had indicated that she was willing to serve on HMP Open Estate.

 

The Sub-Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part 1 of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

V SITE AT HARRIET STREET, DUNDEE

 

There was submitted Report No 375-2007 by the Director of Economic Development seeking approval for the purchase of a site at Harriet Street.

 

The Committee approved the purchase of the site, on the terms and conditions detailed in the report.

 

VI PROPOSED LEASE OF SITE AND PROPERTY AT THE ESPLANADE, BROUGHTY FERRY

 

There was submitted Report No 307-2007 by the Director of Economic Development seeking approval for the lease of a site, including the former Bathing Shelter Building, at the Esplanade, Broughty Ferry.

 

The Committee approved the lease on the terms and conditions recommended in the report.
